I am vampyre, hear me roar!

Wow! What a week and so much to tell! Hmmm...where to start?

How about my newest obsession? Now readers, I could never compare the Harry Potter series by British author, J.K. Rowling, to any other literary series. However, I have found my newest love in a book series.   the House of Night series, written by mother-daughter duo, P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, is a mix of witchcraft and vampirism.  The series takes you along the life of 16 year old, Zoey Redbird, who is currently undergoing the vampyre (awesome spelling of the word, btw) fledgling process.  Zoey has a gift for all 5 elements (water, earth, spirit, fire, and wind) and is up next in becoming high priestess to the Goddess Nyx. These books have become my cocaine (in literary form).  I just finished the second book in the series, Betrayed, and I just bought the 3rd book, Chosen, on amazon along with the Lux Series.

I am so excited! I have found 2 shows that I hopefully will be addicted to.  ABC Family just premiered the show based off the widely popular book series, Pretty Little Liars.  I watched the first episode last Tuesday.  I really did enjoy the show. I have the first book, which I borrowed from a friend.  I am hoping the series and the books match up rather well.  Also, "Holly's World," which stars reality tv actress, model, and ex-girlfriend to, Hugh Hefner, Holly Madison, premiered last night on the E! Channel.  The first episode was a bit dissappointing. I really did like Holly a lot and I am happy that she found a great life in Vegas.  It just didn't seem to have that..."spark" like the "Girls Next Door" did. Hopefully with the next few videos, she can prove me wrong.

I just finished a book called Citizen Girl by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus.  This was by far one of my favorite novels. I bought it at a thrift store for only 90 cents and it was well worth it! The story is about Girl, a 24 year old graduate who is eager to find a job in the non-profit feminist job circuit.  I loved this book not only because of it's feminism but because of it's relevance to my life. In 2 years, I will be graduating with hopes of working for a national non-profit women's organization/magazine. The fact that Girl had to fight her way through a male-dominated world and fight for everything she believed in, in order to mark her place in the world is something I hope to do.

And with that, I would like to add a little self-promotion. late this semester, I wrote an article for The Quad, West Chester University's newspaper.  It kind of goes along with the whole "I am a woman, hear me roar" theme.
